What are some modern adaptations of a fairy tale?
I need help! for my assignment we have to find a modern (within the last 30 years) adapatation of a fairy tale. What are some books, movies, or plays that full fill this? I don’t want to do the obvious, like Cinderella Story or Penelope or Enchanted, etc….
Thanks
do titanic…or that movie, romeo and juliet, they remade it in a modern setting with leonardo di caprio.

Beowolf is one the oldest know folk tales and was made into a movie recently.
If you want something different google "Roald Dahl- Revolting Rhymes" Very funny. They are fairy tales with a silly spin or try "The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig" by Eugene Trivizas.

Why yes dear, it is a common theme. Take any story plot where there is a damsel in distress being saved by a handsome hero and voila, fairy tale device. Also when there is a witch or sorceror that helps out the hero, yep, fairy tale device again. The most blatant of these that comes to mind in recent times is the movie "Ghost" with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore.
There are the blatant films that have the story plot you mention above but you can find them in subtle ways in all sorts of films about all sorts of things.

Neil Jordan made a movie of Angela Carter’s story, "The Company of Wolves". That’s a retelling of red Riding Hood.
