I'm so sad about our family dog- how do i cope with this?
I just don’t know what to do. It’s so sad
My mum just told me this afternoon that our gorgeous labrador has a huge growth in her stomach- it’s about the size of a football (Australian)
The vet is going to operate on her tomorrow, but she says that because our dog is still fairly young (she’s 7 and a half), the growth is most likely cancer. IF it’s cancer, then the vet is going to have to put our dog to sleep. The chances that it isn’t cancer is about 2%. In
I just don’t know what to do. Every time i think about it, i just start crying. This Dog is like my best friend. We got her as a tiny 6 week old puppy, and she’s even managed to gain the love of my mum- my mum doesn’t even really like dogs. I just don’t think i’ll ever survive without this dog. I don;t even want to go out and pat her- just the thought that the warm body i’m stroking is going to be cold by tomorrow… And if she dies, i’m not even going to want to go outside cos her dog bed will still be there- and her food and water bowl and her leash. I don’t want to go in the car cos all her dog hairs will still be there. I don’t even want to go in the garage cos her food is there. And her dog hairs are all through the house…
There’s just going to be so many memories of Bella. I don’;t know how i’m even going to cope with this,
I’m not even holding on to the 2% chance she’ll make it cos it’s just not worth it.
How do i cope with this?? It’s just so hard… If i’m not crying aloud, i’m still crying inside.
I totally understand where youre coming from. I hate when a pet dies bc we dont know what goes through thier mind and perhaps they dont even know what death is. But we all have to face it, all of us. Just comfort her best you can and be positive; it will work out. she just might make it through without cancer…..but if she has it then just take it as it was meant to be

Oh cope with it, it’s just a dog. When you leave a human family member esp. a grandparent or parent then you have a real reason to grieve.

I am so sorry for you. Perhaps Bella will pull through! She sounds like a dear friend. Sometimes we just do know why bad things happen to pets that we love. I hope that you can muster up some strength in this tough time and go and pull her close. Tell her how much you love her and what a special friend she has been to you all these years. She has no idea that anything is wrong with her. But, she will sense that you are hurting. Be brave. If it turns out for the worse tomorrow, you will be wanting more time with her. She will enjoy the attention and love you can show her today. Let tomorrow be tomorrow. I am hoping and praying for comfort in your heart. Best to you and Bella.

Look hun… losing anything or anyone is very hard. I’m just getting over the death of my dog from 2005. It’s very hard for me as I grew up with that dog and he was my best friend. Everything reminds me of him. Please hold on to that 2% chance as she might just make it!!! You never know what might happen!! Please pat her and hold her and just spend as much time as possible with her and just let her know everything is okay as dogs, like all animals, can sense your emotions. Whatever happens just go on with your life and live the way she would want you to live!!!

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I’ve been there and know how painful it is.
Go to Bella now and tell her how much you love her. Do it for her. She’s your best friend and being with her giving her your attention will make her happy. Let it be all about Bella. She’s with you today so make today special for her.
